Onward Currie

Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation is honoured to partner with Onward as one of three original projects. Onward, a leading affordable housing organization in Calgary, has been working for nearly 50 years to ensure every Calgarian has a safe, appropriate, affordable place to call home. Onward is building 72 apartments and townhomes for Calgarians needing affordable homes in the community of Currie. Onward has successfully adopted the innovative mixed-income model, endorsed as part of the federal National Housing Strategy, for its proven benefits: reducing social stigma and promoting inclusion, diversity, community integration and acceptance, and financial stability.  With the mixed-income model, Onward average rents are more than 50 per cent below market, ranging from deep subsidy to near market affordable rents, enabling Onward to create vibrant, resilient, diverse and inclusive communities that support resident success across spectrum of incomes. Onward brings extensive expertise to a portfolio of over 30 buildings, approximately 2,200 pet friendly homes and 3,000 residents.

Fundraising goal: $3.3 million

Start: Fall 2025  

Anticipated 18-month build  

Completion: Winter 2026
