Happy Holidays: From CAHF to you, wishing you warmth, kindness and love.

A message from the CEO

On behalf of the Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation, I would like to thank our donors, supporters, and partners and wish you a wonderful holiday season. We appreciate the trust you’ve placed in the organization, and we are so excited for the year ahead.

2025 has been a year of growth and acceleration for CAHF. The organization formally launched in April and since then we have been actively fundraising and building awareness of the need for non-market affordable housing. As readers will likely know, CAHF was created out of the success of the former RESOLVE campaign that inspired community to come together and focus on affordable housing. We are honoured to continue that legacy and to work with donors, builders and developers who were instrumental in that campaign (which raised an astounding $75 million for more than 20 buildings and 1,850 units). CAHF continues to benefit from relationships built during RESOLVE, and we continue to receive advice and counsel from several legacy builders who were deeply involved in that work.

We are currently partnering with three incredible non-profit affordable housing providers – Silvera for Seniors, Onward and HomeSpace to build more than 133 non-market units in Livingston, Currie and Evergreen. These projects are shovel-ready, and CAHF is fundraising $5.74 million to complete the funding stacks. We are so grateful for the donations to date. Anyone wanting to discuss a year-end gift is welcome to contact me directly at ceo@thecahf.com.

If you’re on social media, you’ll have likely seen our recent fundraising and awareness building campaign: Give the gift that opens doors. The campaign was CAHF’s first campaign created to raise funds and also to raise awareness of the organization and the need for more non-market affordable housing in Calgary. Response to the campaign has been positive, and we’ve been pleased with the engagement to date.

We are excited for the work ahead in 2026. We have publicly committed to raise $10 million annually, leverage $100 million in total funding, and support the creation of several hundred new affordable housing units each year. It’s a bold commitment and we are ready. Together, we can help everyone in Calgary have a place to call home.

On behalf of the board and team, I would like to wish you the very best for the holidays. I look forward to connecting with you in 2026.

Sincerely,

Mike Meldrum
